Updated: Nov 4, 2024

We are excited to host Anushka Chkheidze's workshop at CES.

"House as source of sound", October 21st, 20:30.

Anushka will share with us how she became interested in recording sounds, Georgian polyphony and its integration into electronic music. She will talk about the effect and influencies of academic education and free improvisation on a musician. At the workshop, Anushka will discuss her latest album "Clean Clear White", which was recorded in Basel, Switzerland and is based on her two-week confinement in a research institute.

"House as source of sound" - covers all stages in Anushka's music. Starting from creative activities, ending with organizational issues. For Anushka, this album was a new challenge within herself, delving deeper into the influences that come from traditional music.

Anushka will share with us the ideas that are emerging in music today, how she tries to present them in a collaborative way and leave space for others in music. Discusses the main issues of the master's thesis - 90's electronics and Georgian folklore as the main method of its improvisation in digital music.

At the end of the workshop Anushka will answer your questions and talk about any interest expressed around these topics.

Georgian Anushka Chkheidze, born in 1997, is one of the most promising talents far beyond the country’s borders.Growing up in the small village of Kharagauli, she began singing in a choir at the age of 11. She herself describes the time she spent there as magical and believes that her music is strongly influenced by those childhood years.

In January 2019, Anushka Chkheidze released her first tracks on the compilation “Sleepers Poets Scientists” curated by Natalie Beridze, followed by her debut album “Halfie” in April 2020.The second album “Move 20-21”, released in February 2021, was created during the pandemic and addresses the absence of physical movement and interaction with other people.“Lost Luggage” was released in 2023 and deals with an obvious theme that is unfortunately not unknown to most of us.The album “Clean, Clear and White” followed in May 2024, for which Anuska Chkheidze conducted field recordings as well as piano and choir recordings in the newly renovated research center in Basel, Switzerland. She is invited to international cross-genre festivals and frequently collaborates with choirs, which led to a commission from the Swiss-Georgian festival Close Encounters for the highly acclaimed Gori Women’s Choir in Georgia.

Anushka Chkheidze has already collaborated several times with the Berlin musician Robert Lippok, one of her main mentors, and is currently preparing their first joint release.
